OBR Talk

Privacy Policy

Last updated 7 August 2026

OBR Talk is a motorcycle intercom that carries voice directly between two phones over a local Wi-Fi link. It has no user accounts, no back-end service, and no analytics. This policy describes the very small amount of data involved and where it goes.

The short version: your conversations never leave the two phones. We do not operate a server that your voice passes through, we do not record or store your conversations, and we cannot listen to them.

1. Your voice

When a link is active, audio is captured from your microphone, encrypted, and sent directly to the other phone over the local Wi-Fi network that one of the two phones creates. It does not travel over the internet and it does not pass through any server operated by us or by anyone else.

Audio is never written to storage. It exists only for as long as it takes to play it in the other helmet. There is no recording feature, and no copy of a conversation is retained anywhere after a ride ends.

2. What is stored on your phone

The following stays on your device, in the app's own private storage, and is not transmitted anywhere:

Uninstalling the app removes all of it.

3. What leaves your phone

One thing does. When the app starts, it checks for a software update from Expo's update service at u.expo.dev. Like any request to any server on the internet, this necessarily discloses your device's IP address along with basic technical details needed to serve the correct update — such as your platform, app version and runtime version.

This request contains no personal information, no conversation data, and nothing about who you ride with. It happens whether or not you have ever started a link. The service is operated by Expo; their handling of it is described in the Expo Privacy Policy.

Beyond that update check, the app makes no network requests. It contains no advertising, no analytics, no crash reporting and no third-party tracking software of any kind.

4. Permissions and why they are asked for

5. Children

OBR Talk is intended for adults aged 18 and over. It is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect information from anyone.

6. Data sharing and sale

We do not sell, rent, trade or share your data. This is not a promise about restraint — there is no collected data to sell, because the app has no server to collect it into.

7. Your rights

Because no personal data is collected or held by us, there is nothing for us to disclose, correct, export or delete on request. Everything the app stores is on your own device and under your direct control; deleting the app deletes it.

8. Changes to this policy

If the app's behaviour changes in a way that affects this policy, this page will be updated and the date at the top revised. Material changes will also be noted in the app's release notes on Google Play.
